Costs Involved
Want to try new things? Have fun? Make new friends? Want to make a difference? Girls’ Brigade offers all of this and much more at an affordable cost.
Membership Fees
Most GB companies have a set weekly subscription, in the range of £1 – £2 per girl, to cover the cost of materials for activities, equipment, etc. Details will be provided when you enrol your child.
There is also an annual membership fee for each girl and leader which is paid to Girls’ Brigade Scotland. This includes insurance cover for members, programme development, training and the support services provided by GB Headquarters to all companies. At enrolment you will be advised what the fee is and how the company collects it. This can vary in each area as some companies do fundraising events to help spread the cost.
Uniform
Each section has their own smart and affordable uniform and you can read more about that in the ‘Our Girls’ section of the website. The uniform has been designed to be cost effective for parents while providing a group identity for our young people although no girl will be turned away from GB if she doesn’t have a uniform. If uniform isn’t affordable for any reason please speak with the Leader in charge at the company as they may have pre-loved items available at a reduced cost or there may be other ways they can help.
Our on-line shop also offers a small variety of leisure wear for girls and lots of exciting GB branded gifts which can be purchased by parents and friends.
Visit the GB on-line shop to see what’s on offer.
Other Costs
There is usually an extra charge for days out, special activities and holidays and details will be provided by local companies as and when necessary. These are not compulsory for girls but there are many benefits to being part of additional activities. Companies keep costs to a minimum and often offer a payment plan option to help spread the cost.
