Induction Training

The second element of the GBS Induction training consists of four 60-90 minute Zoom Training Sessions which incorporate Child Protection Training, GBS Roles and Responsibilities, Faith, Equity and Inclusion and GBS in the Youth Work Sector. Induction courses are available 3 times per year. The admin cost for this course is £7.50 per Trainee Leader and must be paid prior to attending the course.

All Trainees who wish to work in Company for more than 6 weeks per GB session are required to complete this second training element and have a period of 6 months from receipt of their RM1 Approval Letter and GBS name badge to complete this.
To register, trainees must have first completed the online Induction Training modules via Moodle and have submitted a completed RM1 form with PVG information to the Membership Services Coordinator. Please note that in order to complete this course all registered trainees must attend all 4 Zoom sessions in full although an exception may be made in certain circumstances which will allow trainees to miss and catch up on one of the four sessions only.

Any trainee who misses more than one session in a particular block will be asked to transfer to a future set of training dates and will be required to repeat any sessions already attended. This may also affect the 6-month grace period permitted for working in company while waiting to complete the course so please ensure you are available on all four dates before registering.

Gold Leadership Training

Trainee Leaders who wish to undertake Gold Leadership Training will be required to complete 5 online modules with some additional work at home.
These modules are:

General introduction to Leadership with a breakout room activity lasting approximately 60 minutes
Leadership, spiritual activity and group/personal tasks given out, lasting approximately 60 minutes
Working with young people, including ACES and other issues which they may encounter when working with children and young people. This will last approximately 90 minutes.
Spiritual Group presentation, lasting approximately 60 minutes
Being a Gold Level Leader and Company responsibilities, advice about post-course tasks, etc. lasting approximately 60 minutes.

Following completion of these sessions, Trainees have one full year to complete the three post-course tasks assigned to them. Copies of these will be sent to Training Coordinators, Captains and Leaders-in-Charge when they are allocated to the Trainees.

Trainees can miss one session out of the 5 and will be given tasks to complete on the module missed. If Trainees miss more than one session they will require to transfer their training to the next available course, which means they will have to repeat sessions attended.

Trainees should ensure that their cameras are on at all times and that they understand that they must participation in discussions with the course staff and their fellow Trainees.

PLEASE NOTE

The Training registration dates for 2026 have been set with a longer lead in time to allow the staff team time to process these fully.

These are fixed dates to avoid backlogs occurring so please note that if you miss the deadline Trainees will be registered for the next course.
