Explorer Stars
Awards for our Explorers are based on a Star theme and are designed to be colourful and vibrant to recognise the excitement, fun and sense of achievement our youngest girls experience as they work from week to week through a varied programme of activities towards gaining their badge at the end of the year.
Our programme material for Explorers is divided into a wide range of themes which follow our mascot Gracie Bee through many exciting adventures as she explores and learns about the world around her. Each of these themes cover the four key areas of Girls’ Brigade badge work–Physical, Spiritual, Educational and Service but in a relaxed format which allow these elements to be covered through song, dance, play, creation, praise, challenges, experiments, storytelling and so much more.
To recognise their achievements, at the end of each GB session Explorers in Primary 1 are awarded a Bronze Star, Primary 2’s obtain a Silver Star and girls in Primary 3 receive a Gold Star to wear as part of their uniform throughout the rest of their Girls’ Brigade journey.
Service Awards
In addition to receiving awards for badge work girls and young women are also awarded a Service Award for each year they give service and attendance to their company. These are designed in the shape of a gold star with a white centre which depicts the number of years they have attended GB.
